Emory Hotel

In 2023 Refurrb Ltd had a significant role in the construction of the The Emory, London’s first all-suite luxury hotel. The Emory officially opened its doors in July 2024, marking the Maybourne Hotel Group’s first new London property in 50 years. Situated in Belgravia, overlooking Hyde Park, The Emory offers 61 suites spread over nine floors, each designed by renowned interior designers such as André Fu, Patricia Urquiola, Pierre-Yves Rochon, and Alexandra Champalimaud. The penthouse suite, occupying the entire ninth floor, was crafted by London-based studio Rigby & Rigby.

The architectural design of The Emory is the work of the late Richard Rogers and his partner Ivan Harbour of RSHP. The building features a distinctive ‘sails’ structure atop its roof, contributing to its unique silhouette in the London skyline. The hotel’s entrance is discreetly located on Old Barrack Yard, providing guests with a private and exclusive arrival experience.

Construction of The Emory was a complex project, nearly two decades in the making. The building’s design had to address significant site constraints, including proximity to the Piccadilly Line tunnels and the adjacent Berkeley Hotel’s subterranean support areas. To overcome these challenges, a stability structure with a part-suspended floor system was incorporated, resulting in a visually striking and structurally efficient solution.

The interior fit-out was executed with six leading interior designers to create bespoke suites ranging from 592 to 3,229 square feet. Each suite features floor-to-ceiling windows with views over Hyde Park.

The Emory also offers exceptional amenities, including abc kitchens, the first UK outpost of chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten’s renowned New York restaurants, and Surrenne, a private members’ club dedicated to wellness and longevity, spread over four subterranean floors.

This project exemplifies a harmonious blend of innovative architecture and luxurious interior design, setting a new standard in London’s hospitality scene.
