In 2023 Refurrb had a significant role in The Bedford Passage development in Fitzrovia, London. The contract involved the restoration and conversion of the historic Strand Union Workhouse, which dates to between 1775 and 1778.

The development includes a mix of private residential units, affordable housing, and commercial office space. The external works comprise private courtyard gardens, paved plaza spaces, public access routes, and rooftop gardens with green roofs. The new building also incorporates outdoor rooftop play areas for residents.

The project was designed led by Llewelyn Davies.

The development has been sensitive to the site’s historical significance, retaining and restoring the Grade II listed workhouse building while introducing modern residential and commercial spaces. This approach aims to blend the area’s rich history with contemporary urban living.
